Proxy Sites and How to Utilize Them

Many people who work remotely and handle important files while on the go used a proxy site without even being aware of it. For example, virtual private networksor VPNs are specific types of proxies that give you the tools to work securely while on the go. There are various types of different proxy sites, and within this article, you will be informed of how they work and how they can benefit you.

What is a proxy?

In a nutshell, a proxy is a connection between a remote internet location and you. It is a direct point-to-point connection between these two. Bigger businesses will open a VPN that can permanently connect between a system and its dedicated devices in the main office through a VPN server. Being one of the most commonly known proxies, this creates a tunnel that will lead all communications to pass through. Your information is encrypted and transferred to the server through this tunnel and then on your behalf resent to larger internet.

This will keep anyone from trying to ‘listen’ to your connection by giving them visual static of what you sent and where it was visiting. This is considered to be stronger than a SSL security. Reason being that the headers and surfed sites can still be visible through SSL.

Why should you use a proxy?

However, there are many more benefits that can be utilized by proxy sites whether you are using a VPN server that leans on protocols such as PPTP, a Socks proxy, SSL or a general web gateway, which does not actually provide any encryption at all.

They all have a few similar features with basic principles that recognize that they are relaying packets of information on your behalf. At the same time, they strip the original address so only those intended to see these packets are able to do that.

These proxies serve many purposes that are not just business related. For one, they allow for viewing of region-restricted content. As an example, if someone is overseas and wishes to view their favorite shows on a network such as Hulu, they will find it difficult because their region IP does not allow the shows to be viewed. A proxy server can show the IP address of the region in which they originate so they can enjoy their shows without hassle.

Online security with proxy

It is very important to protect yourself while you are online, and proxies give you the ability to do just that. Why? Because there are those who wish to steal your identity and personal financial information to cause you harm, or reap gain from your pocket. Some people out there want to infect your computer or other devices with viruses and spyware, creating backdoors into your system to cause havoc.

There is no real way to be able to identify or recognize when and if someone is watching you so sometimes it is best to be safe by using proxy sites to protect your personal well-being and information.

Very true. Only finding a good proxy with good speed is very hard.
