Milwaukee Deep, [ 27,493 feet (8,380 m) ] in the Puerto Rico Trench, is the deepest point in the Atlantic Ocean.!

Challenger Deep, [ 10,916 m (35,814) ] in the Mariana Trench, is the deepest point in the Pacific Ocean.!

It is also the deepest point on earth.! !

Both low points are named for the ships that discovered them while doing depth soundings.

The Omaha class cruiser USS milwaukee (third of 5 US Navy shiops with that name) found its depth in the Atlantic on Feb 14th, 1939.

The British ship HMS Challenger found its depth in the Pacific in 1873.!

BTW - The Java Trench [ 12,740 feet (3,883 meters) ] is the deepest point in the Indian Ocean.!

Now you know more stuff...   :P

Thank you Management & Posters of LSC for making this a wonderful place.
